If you’re a Frederick County, Maryland, resident and think you or your family may be eligible for Medicaid or other income-qualifying medical insurance programs, you can find help for eligibility and enrollment right here. Medicaid (MA)

Maryland Children’s Health Program (MCHP/Free and Premium Programs)

  • Children up to age 19
  • Pregnant women of any age

You can apply on a walk-in basis at the Frederick County Health Department at 350 Montevue Lane during the following times:

  • Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00am to 3:00pm
  • Thursday and Friday from 8:00am to 12:00pm

At the Frederick County Health Department, you will meet one-on-one with one of our Caseworkers. The Caseworker will create an online account for you through the Maryland Health Connection website and assist you with completing the new or renewal application. If you need verifications, the Caseworker will help you complete that process as well. Once an MCO (Managed Care Organization) and PCP (Primary Care Doctor) are selected, the Caseworker will complete the entire enrollment process with you here.

  • Birth dates, Social Security, or Tax ID numbers of all household members
  • Sources and amounts of income for all household members
  • Citizenship or immigration status for all applicants
  • Health care coverage information for any applicants covered by current health insurance

  • Visits to the doctor, including regular check-ups
  • Care while pregnant
  • Family planning and birth control
  • Prescription drugs
  • X-ray and lab services
  • Hospital services
  • Home health services
  • Hospice services
  • Emergency services
  • OB/GYN care for women
  • Eye exams for adults, children, and pregnant women
  • Primary mental health services through your doctor
  • Specialty mental health and substance abuse treatment through the Behavioral Health System (800-888-1965)
  • Transportation services
  • Immunizations (shots)
  • Vision care, including exams and glasses each year
  • Dental care (limited for non-pregnant adults)

To be eligible for Maryland Medical Assistance programs, individuals and families must meet annual income requirements. YOU ARE ELIGIBLE if your income DOES NOT EXCEED the figures below according to the number of people in your family.
